Wake Up Palestine – The Challenges of the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee
A group of Palestinians have been working hard to maintain an old city despite a military occupation obstructing them.

The structures of the city of patriarchs are old and in constant need of repair, a task that is left to the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee (HRC). According to their mission statement, The HRC is dedicated to preserving, restoring, and celebrating the important cultural and social history of the Old City in Hebron.
They do this by reviving the Old City by renovating buildings, reusing abandoned houses, and rehabilitating the infrastructure while preserving its cultural heritage and the city’s architectural fabric.
And through improving living conditions for the Palestinian population by restoring homes, enabling unity between the Old City and the new one, and providing various services to enhance living and working conditions
However, their work still faces many challenges. Just last week, the Israeli military prevented the HRC crews from completing some roof repairs and maintenance of the electrical grid in the Ibrahimi Mosque. The next day, the Israeli military prevented the HRC crews from completing renovation work to restore 12 houses.
